People on the move in the P&C insurance industry: June 15, 2018

Alera Group has appointed Danielle Capilla director of compliance, employee benefits. Capilla was formerly the senior vice president of compliance and operations at United Benefit Advisors.

Ben Rubin has been appointed senior vice president of the newly formed risk management department for FIRST Insurance Funding. He was most recently a managing principal and head of mergers and acquisitions at Integro Insurance Brokers.

Allianz Group’s specialist corporate insurer Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has appointed Nancy Suffolk global head of product development for entertainment. Suffolk joins AGCS from Hiscox’s U.S. Entertainment Division where she was national underwriting manager and entertainment product head.

Becky Biermann has joined Everest Insurance as a senior underwriter within the Environmental division of Everest division of Everest Specialty Casualty. She most recently worked for Enviant, an environmental specialty managing general agency where she was vice president and lead environmental underwriter for the West Coast.

Aon plc has appointed Brian Hinman chief innovation officer to the firm’s Intellectual Property Solutions group. Before joining Aon, Hinman served as CEO and Chief IP Officer at Phillips Intellectual Property and Standards for Royal Phillips in the Netherlands.

OneBeacon Surety Group, a member of OneBeacon Insurance Group, has announced the following appointments:

Kalyan Kodali has been appointed CEO of ValueMomentum, a provider of software and services to insurance, healthcare and financial services firms. Kodali was most recently president of ValueMomentum’s enterprise business.

Phyn has added Mariel Devesa to the position of global head of business development. Most recently, Devesa served as head of innovation at Farmers Insurance where she oversaw the development of business relationships, product and offering implementations.

Matthew Milano has been appointed practice leader for the PREFERRED CLUB, Venture Insurance Programs‘ golf and country club insurance program. He came to Venture from Pareto Captive Services where he worked as the vice president of sales and distribution.

AmTrust Financial Services Inc. announced that J. Daniel Hickey has taken on the role of group chief underwriting officer. He joined AmTrust in July 2017 as executive vice president, business strategy and business development.

Lorie Yauney has been elected by members of the Professional Insurance Agents Southern Alliance to serve as their chairperson at their recent annual meeting. She currently serves as COO of J. Smith Lanier & Co. and is based in West Point, Georgia.

Brit Ltd has appointed Michael Gould COO. He joins Brit from Lloyd’s syndicate Talbot Underwriter where he has held the position of COO since 2015.

Brian Wies has been hired as a sales producer for Insurance Group of St. Charles County. Wies has worked in the insurance industry since 2012.

The PURE Group of Insurance Companies announced the following appointments:

William Malloy has been appointed president of Acrisure‘s specialty division. He has extensive leadership experience in the insurance industry, spending over a decade with AIG, where he held various executive positions in the U.S. and Europe.

Specialty insurer and risk management broker Alesco Risk Management Services has appointed Nadim Semaan as a partner. Most recently at UIB, he moved from an initial focus on energy to multi-line business development and complex programme structuring, including parametric covers, trade credit and political risks.

Matt Waters has been appointed chief underwriting officer and senior vice president of Liberty Mutual‘s National Insurance Specialty unit. Waters returns to National Insurance Specialty from a stint as chief product & underwriting officer of Liberty Mutual’s group disability and life operation, which was recently sold.

Everest Re Group Ltd. has appointed Eric Koppang vice president and head of E&S Casualty. Koppang was most recently at Chubb where he led the Westchester E&S Casualty group as senior vice president.

Michael McNulty has rejoined EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants as managing principal and wine & beverage practice leader. McNulty previously spent six years as a principal at EPIC before leaving to become the San Francisco area managing director of broker for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. in 2015.

StartPoint Executives Risks has appointed Mark Selby head of their newly created financial institutions underwriting practice. Selby spent the last six years as financial institutions underwriting manager at Liberty Specialty Markets in London.

Todd Burgener has been appointed executive vice president in Chicago at JLT Re Inc. Burgener joins JLT Re from Northwestern Memorial Healthcare where he was director of corporate insurance.

Ryan Specialty Group LLC (RSG) has announced that Katie Davies will be joining an RSG affiliate as president and CEO of a new properly catastrophe managing underwriting facility that will be exclusive to RT Specialty. She previously served as president at AmWINS Special Risk Underwriters.
