I recently spent almost a week in San Antonio, Texas, attending RIMS to learn about the new risks facing insurers and their policyholders. As I walked the exhibit hall, met with representatives from multiple companies, attended the education sessions and networked at a wide variety of events, I appreciated the opportunity to learn from so many different sources.
Many forces are changing and shaping our industry. As business becomes more global, so do the risks. Speaking with peers who are at the forefront of some of those changes provides practical insights and a learning opportunity that only comes from attending an industry conference.

|Identifying new threats
Autonomous cars present many exciting opportunities and will have a definite impact on insurance in the future. Coverage needs will change, as will policy costs and even how insurance is priced. The advent of smart cities provides a plethora of changes for municipalities as technology provides solutions to a range of issues and creates new challenges for them as well.
