Risk management's top honors help launch RIMS 2018
Here are the cream of the crop among the thousands of risk management and insurance professionals gathered in San Antonio for the RIMS 2018.
RIMS, the risk management society™, announced Monday the winners of several industry awards given out during the RIMS 2018 Annual Conference & Exhibition Awards Luncheon in San Antonio.
Here are the insurance and risk management professionals honored during the event:
Ward Ching, managing director of the Western Region at Aon Global Risk Consulting, received the organization’s most prestigious honor, the Harry and Dorothy Goodell Award, which is named after RIMS’ first president. The award pays tribute to an individual who has furthered the goals of the Society and the risk management discipline through outstanding service and achievement.
Rebecca F. Cady, vice president and chief risk officer at the Children’s National Medical Center, was named RIMS Risk Manager of the Year.
Sandy Aspinall, Jr., vice president of Global Risk Management for Comcast Corporation; Jennifer Hills, director of the Office of Risk Management Services for King County (Washington); and Joseph Meaney, Jr., vice president of Global Insurance and Risk Engineering for The AES Corporation, were named to the Risk Management Honor Roll for their efforts to raise the profile of the risk management profession.
Randy Jouben, the risk manager for Fairfax County Government and active member of RIMS Potomac Chapter, received the Ron Judd “Heart of RIMS” Award, which pays tribute to the legacy of Ron Judd, who served as the RIMS Executive Director for 22 years. Individuals are nominated by chapters for outstanding performance in furthering risk management at the chapter level.
Lindsey Harris, risk manager at Dollar Tree Stores, Inc., and Jaci Mennenga, Manager, Corporate Risk Management at COUNTRY Financial, both received the RIMS Rising Star Award.
Andrew Bent, risk manager at The Sage Group PLC, and Lori Seidenberg, head of Global Real Assets Insurance at BlackRock, Inc., were named to the RIMS Ambassadors Group.
Former RIMS President Berry Griffin was inducted into the Risk Management Hall of Fame.
Terry Fleming received the Richard W. Bland Memorial Award, which was created by the RIMS Kansas City Chapter in 1974 to recognize exceptional commitment in the area of legislation or regulation.
Peter Galvin, risk manager at Uline, received The Cristy Award, which acknowledges the individual who earned the highest marks on the three exams required to earn the Associate of Risk Management designation.
And finally, Lockton was named the top-performing broker for 2017, and XL Catlin the top-performing insurer for 2017, based on data collected as part of the J.D. Power 2017 Large Commercial Insurance Study, conducted in association with RIMS.
