The Spencer Educational Foundation names 2018 scholars

These awards bring the number of scholarships awarded by the non-profit to 1,051.

The Spencer Educational Foundation named 70 full-time undergraduate, graduate and Pre-dissertation Ph.D. students as its 2018 Spencer Scholars. The students, selected and screened from a pool of more than 730 applicants, represent 28 schools.

Undergraduate scholarships awarded students $5,000 each, while master’s and pre-Ph.D. dissertation scholars received $10,000 each. A total of $390,000 was given out. These awards bring the number of scholarships awarded by the non-profit to 1,051.

“The best and the brightest”

In addition to 33 general undergraduate scholarships, the Spencer Educational Foundation awarded 29 named undergraduate scholarships. All those scholarships are for $5,000. The named scholarships were sponsored by 16 insurance industry organizations.

Additionally, risk managers pursuing part-time master’s degrees are eligible for scholarships worth up to $10,000. The deadline for these scholarship applications is May 1. More information about eligibility and such can be found on the organization’s website.
