For many Americans on the East Coast, this year's weather is proving to be more prone to change than ever. Barely three months into 2018, it's not clear when winter will officially end.

As such, insurers should stay on their toes for the potential challenges that lie ahead. Whether that's simply reviewing an insured's coverage or calling an insured with tips, there are ways to stay ahead.

With this in mind, above are five tips from Tyson Horn, Director of Home Insurance for LexisNexis Risk Solutions, on what insurers can proactively do in order to efficiently navigate the 2018 winter weather claims season.
