Sapiens International Corporation, the global provider of software solutions for the insurance industry, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Adaptik, a Pennsylvania-based firm that offers property and casualty (P&C) policy administration and billing capabilities for commercial, personal, specialty and workers' compensation lines of business. Sapiens says the acquisition will enable it to provide North American insurance carriers with an enhanced platform.

The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based home telematics company Roost has entered into a partnership with Erie Insurance, which selected the Roost Smart Water Leak and Freeze Detector. The deal reflects Roost's mission to become a go-to smart sensor notification platform as well as the customer engagement solution of choice for the P&C industry. Earlier this year, Roost unveiled its Smart Garage Door Sensor, which joined the company's suite of home telematics solutions that include the Roost Smart Battery and the Roost Smart Water Leak and Freeze Detector.

To enhance its underwriting capabilities, Columbia Insurance Group will deploy the InsureRight® Platform from Valen Analytics®, an Insurity company and a provider of proprietary data, analytics and predictive modeling for P & C insurers. Columbia will utilize the Predict application of Valen's platform to increase visibility and efficiency in risk selection and pricing for its workers' compensation underwriting teams.
