An Amtrak train traveling from New York to Miami collided with a freight train in Cayce, South Carolina, on Feb. 4, killing two Amtrak employees and injuring at least 116 others, according to CNN.
The victims were identified as train engineer Michael Kempf, 54, of Savannah, Georgia, and a conductor, Michael Cella, 36, of Orange Park, Florida, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher.
Amtrak Train 91′s rail switch had been manually set to send the train onto the rail sliding when it crashed into a CSX train loaded with automobiles despite traveling below the speed limit, The New York Times reports.
