ALBANY — The state's highest court on Tuesday gave a group of Sept. 11 cleanup workers the green light to file asbestos-related lawsuits in federal court.

In a unanimous decision, No. 119, the state's Court of Appeals ruled that the Battery Park City Authority is a government entity and didn't have legal standing to challenge Jimmy Nolan's Law.

Jimmy Nolan's law is a 2009 state law that gave workers who toiled in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center towers on Sept. 11, 2001, an extra year to file claims against the authority.
