The recent hurricanes have brought mobile homes to the forefront of peoples' attention because of the number of trailer parks and mobile homes in Florida, Georgia and Texas.

According to the Manufactured Housing Institute, Florida has about 828,000 mobile homes  — more than any other state. As reported by the Washington Post, about 600,000 are older models, not constructed to withstand hurricane-level winds, and only half of the state's mobile homes are insured.

Mobile homes tend to sustain severe damage during hurricanes. Because mobile homes are in many ways a combination of a home and a vehicle, coverage needs to address these unique features.
