Nationwide has added SmartRide, a safe-driving program, to its existing Amazon Alexa smart living capability. To encourage safe driving and potentially save members money on their premiums, Nationwide SmartRide members can now access information on critical driving habits like hard braking, fast acceleration and idle time – all through the Alexa-enabled devices.

People's Trust Insurance, one of Florida's top 10 home insurance companies, has expanded its use of the TechCanary Insurance Platform. Based in Milwaukee, Wis., TechCanary provides a cloud-based, analytics-driven insurance solution within the Salesforce CRM platform.

EXL, an operations management and analytics company headquartered in New York City, and Illinois Mutual Life Insurance Company, based in Peoria, recently announced a partnership to implement EXL's LifePRO® platform for digital customer acquisition, policy administration and analytics. In a press release, Illinois Mutual President and Chairperson Katie McCord-Jenkins said, "Illinois Mutual is preparing for a future as a digital insurer, and needed a partner and solution to help achieve four primary goals: to enable the delivery of innovative new products to market more quickly, enable straight through processing and automated underwriting, improve our business operations through streamlining and automating processes, and enhancing the service we provide to our clients and agents. Our partnership with EXL positions us to meet all of those goals."

At right, actor Vin Diesel of Dodge and Hagerty Insurance Agency, which insures collectable vehicles and is based in Traverse City, Mich., recently teamed up to tailor insurance policies for owners of the new 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, the most-powerful, street-legal production car ever. "We are living in the golden age of automotive performance, and the Demon is the latest example that speaks directly to the hearts of enthusiasts," Hagerty CEO McKeel Hagerty said in a press release. "The insurance industry had a hand in ending the first great muscle car era, and we're here to make sure history doesn't repeat itself." At right, actor Vin Diesel of "The Fast and the Furious" film franchise helped introduce the SRT Demon during the 2017 New York International Auto Show in April. The vehicle is billed as the fastest quarter-mile car in the world; sales begin this fall with a base price of around $85,000.

LexisNexis Risk Solutions, a provider of data and analytics in insurance telematics, and Modus, a provider of advanced vehicle tracking systems for insurers, fleet managers and businesses, joined forces recently to provide insurers with more options in after-market solutions to gather data and apply advanced analytics in developing and managing their UBI programs. Through this alliance, Modus is joining the LexisNexis Telematics Exchange, which will allow insurance carriers who opt in to take advantage of data from the industry and OEMs, make better decisions faster, and gain unique insights for competitive advantage.

Warrantech, a national provider of extended service plans (ESPs) and warranties, recently announced a partnership with the mobile workforce management platform ServicePower. Warrantech, a subsidiary of AmTrust Financial Services, Inc., will now instantly connect customers who have service needs with available repair technicians by using technology to schedule service appointments in real-time.
