The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) Western Division announced the establishment of its new Washington Chapter on Dec. 1.
The chapter broadens the division’s mission of providing grants, leadership and volunteer support to local community organizations in the greater Seattle area, primarily those that focus on child abuse prevention, disaster preparedness, education and health and human services.
The Washington Chapter is the division’s third, following the launch of its Colorado and Arizona Chapters in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
|Giving back to the community
Molly Hunter, senior vice president, Global Relationship Leader of Zurich Insurance, and Jacob Decker, vice president, Director of Financial Institutions of Woodruff-Sawyer & Co., are the Chapter co-chairs, which also includes a board of 11 senior industry leaders from across the state, representing companies including AIG, AFM, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, Chubb, CNA, Great American Insurance Group, The Hartford, Swiss Re, Woodruff-Sawyer & Co. and Zurich.
“IICF continues to have a profound impact on local communities across the United States and the United Kingdom through the philanthropic work of its growing network of insurance professionals,” said Decker. “With the launch of the Washington Chapter, we look forward to extending IICF’s reach even farther to include industry professionals in the Seattle area who are passionate about giving back to the communities in which they live and work.”
|About IICF
As an international organization established in 1994, IICF operates five regional divisions serving the Midwest, Northeast, Southeast and the Western United States, along with its most recently established division in the UK.
To date, the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation, which is completely directed and funded by the insurance industry, has contributed more than $25.3 million in grants and 240,500 volunteer service hours to hundreds of community organizations across the U.S. and since 2015, internationally.
|Dedicate time and efforts to charitable causes
“As the recent turnout from this year’s Week of Giving demonstrates, we have an extremely dedicated base of insurance professionals in the region who are ready and willing to dedicate their time and efforts to charitable causes,” added Hunter. “The introduction of a new IICF chapter in Washington will enhance the already robust philanthropic tradition in the Pacific Northwest, and with the experienced leadership team we have in place, we’re looking forward to a great 2017.”
