Kansas City-based insurance brokerage Lockton Cos. said it has promoted Peter Clune to U.S. president and chief operating officer, effective May 1, 2017.

He succeeds Glenn Spencer, who will continue on as president and CEO of Lockton’s global operations, effective on the same date.

Clune joined Lockton in 2006 as chief operation officer of its St. Louis operation. Since 2010, Clune has worked as an operations executive. Clune is based out of Lockton’s Kansas City office.

Prior to his time at Lockton, Clune worked at Zurich for 10 years. He started his career as a producer with a Kansas City insurance agency, and is a graduate of the University of Missouri.

“Clune has demonstrated strong leadership and collaboration skills, is an effective operating executive and has helped improve Lockton’s recruiting and business development programs,” says John L. Lumelleau, president and CEO of Lockton.
