NAPSLO members are encouraged to attend the association’s Annual Business Meeting during the Convention’s General Session on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Centennial Ballroom, located on the Ballroom level of the Hyatt.
During the General Session, members will be asked to vote upon and approve a slate of officers and directors for the Association for the coming year.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear a brief overview of the Association’s work during the past year, and will honor several award recipients, including the Charles A. McAlear/NAPSLO Industry Award, which recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to the surplus lines industry; the President’s Award, which recognizes a committee chair for outstanding service; the W. Dana Roehrig Past President’s Award, which recognizes the efforts of a NAPSLO committee member; and the Richard M. Bouhan Legislative Advocacy Award, which honors an individual whose advocacy has advanced the legislative interests of the industry.
General Session attendees will also hear from keynote speaker David McCullough, who has been an editor, teacher, lecturer and familiar presence on public television. His bestselling works include “The Wright Brothers,” “The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris,” “1776” and “John Adams,” which remains one of the most praised and widely read American biographies of all time.
McCullough has won both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award twice, and has received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award. His television work includes serving as host of “The American Experience” (which he hosted for 12 years) and “Smithsonian World,” as well as narrating numerous documentaries including Ken Burns’ “The Civil War” and the 2003 film “Seabiscuit.”
McCullough’s address is part of the E.G. Lassiter Lecture Series, presented by the Derek Hughes/NAPSLO Educational Foundation.
