The Alexandria, Va.-based Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America's Young Agents Committee said it raised more than $47,000 this year for InVEST, a financial literacy program that educates high school and college students about insurance, risk management and financial services.

The money was raised through a Roaring '20s-themed fundraising event in conjunction with the insurance organization's Legislative Conference and the annual InVEST silent and live auction.

“Young agents want to make a difference in the insurance industry and the InVEST Scholarship fund is an important part of the perpetuation solution,” says Boyd McGehee, the national chairman of Young Agents Committee and president of Talladega Insurance in Talladega, Ala. “By hosting this fundraiser, we help future independent agents, the next generation of (customer service representatives), producers and principals find a rewarding and exciting career in insurance.”
