21 university teams take the 2016 Spencer-RIMS Risk Management Challenge

Spencer Educational Foundation Board Vice President Marya J. Propis announced the Temple University risk management student team as the winners of the Spencer-RIMS Risk Management Challenge at the Foundation reception on April 11. The team, composed of four risk management students, delivered the award-winning risk management presentation in front of industry leaders at RIMS 2016 Annual Conference & Exhibition in San Diego.

The annual challenge started three months ago with 21 universities that were each presented with a risk management case study. The teams developed solutions to their case studies, and eight of the teams—Appalachian State University, Butler University, Florida State University, Illinois State University, St. Joseph’s University, St. Mary’s University, Temple University and the University of Georgia—were selected to attend RIMS 2016. During the conference, the group of eight was narrowed to three, and those finalists presented one last time in front of  panel of risk professionals at the conference. This year’s Risk Management Challenge risk case-study was provided by Lego.
