Swiss insurance carrier Zurich North America was recently honored by Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan with a proclamation to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Zurich Surety. Al Redmer Jr., the insurance commissioner of Maryland, presented the proclamation to Bryan Salvatore, president of specialty products, and Michael Bond, head of surety, at Zurich's Owings Mills, Md., office on Oct. 21.

The Arlington, Va.-based Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and the Malvern, Pa.-based Institutes said they have entered into an alliance to enhance their professional offerings and deliver innovative educational courses to the insurance industry and to risk management professionals. The alliance is to support and promote professional designation programs and other educational opportunities for insurance and risk professionals.

Separately, CAS said it has created the CAS Institute (iCAS), offering new credentials and specialized professional education for quantitative professionals.
