The concept of subrogation can be difficult for some to grasp. It involves looking at a loss with an entirely different lens to see what others may not when it comes to cause and origin for an event. Unless investigators are aware that subrogation could play a role in a loss, they may remove critical evidence or fail to preserve valuable product information.

With so many manufacturers contributing “parts” to create an entire “product” these days, being aware of subrogation issues for a claim becomes much more important. As more new adjusters come into the industry, training on what to look for, how to preserve evidence and who should be notified take on a new significance.
