Cunningham Lindsey has named Denise Long vice president of Catastrophe Operations and Michael Bruce as director of Flood Operations. Bringing more than 20 years of claims experience to Cunningham Lindsey, Long will refine and direct the firm's Catastrophe Services Division, while building strategic partnerships with new and existing clients. Bruce, having over 10 years of NFIP experience, will lead a team of experienced and certified flood adjusters and will identify opportunities that will drive growth to Cunningham Lindsey's flood adjusting services.
Freberg Environmental Insurance (FEI) announced the appointment of several key staff members. Brenda Ryberg joined FEI in June as a Program Manager of FEI's Hazardous Materials Trucking program. Ryberg brings nearly 30 years of insurance industry experience to FEI and most recently served as senior underwriter for auto and garage risks at Colony Insurance Company. Nick Langham joined FEI in July as a senior environmental impairment liability underwriter, with a diverse environmental insurance and consulting background. Langham most recently served as underwriter for AIG's Dallas region. Based in Short Hills, New Jersey, Kristen Scott joins FEI as a production underwriter. Prior to joining FEI, Scott managed a national environmental storage tank program as well as other environmental product lines for Chamber Insurance Agency Services. Sean Mclaughlin, based in Denver, Colo., joined FEI as a production underwriter. Most recently, Mclaughlin served as environmental production underwriter for Tokio Marine Specialty.
The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has appointed Cate Paolino as director of state affairs for its Northeast region. Based in Massachusetts, Paolino will represent NAMIC member company interests in New England and New York. Prior to joining NAMIC, Paolino served as senior counsel and second vice president, Regulatory Research and Compliance for Travelers.
John Giralt has joined Hiscox as head of property for the company's Miami MGA operation. With almost 30 years in the industry, Giralt joins Hiscox from Catlin XL, where he most recently served as a director covering the Americas. Giralt's focus will be on writing property, power generation and construction business throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
Argo Group International Holdings Ltd. has announced the addition of Alex Hindson as chief risk officer. Hindson most recently served as chief risk officer for Amlin AG's Bermuda and Zurich operations. Prior to that, Hindson held a number of key leadership roles in risk management at Amlin plc, Aon Global Risk Consulting and AstraZeneca.
The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) announced the appointment of Barbara Bufkin as executive vice president of business development for Hamilton USA. Bufkin is the 23rd senior insurance industry executive to join IICF's most prestigious board. The esteemed Inclusion Champion Award was awarded to Bufkin by IICF during the foundation's 2015 Women in Insurance Global Conference in New York. Bufkin joined Hamilton USA in 2014 as executive vice president of business development.
Maritime Program has added three new staff members to their recreational marine division. Roger Carbonier, who has dedicated the last 16 years to the marine reinsurance business, has been named vice president and director of recreational marine. He will oversee the growth and production of MPG's national recreational marine portfolio. Michael Luu has been named commercial marine underwriter and focus on production for the recreational marine portfolio. Bringing with her 15 years of insurance experience, including marine insurance, Maria Lawrence has been named West Coast Yacht underwriter. Based out of Stockton, CA, Maria will work with MPG's West Coast brokers to underwrite boats and yachts with New Hampshire Insurance Company and with Markel American.
Zurich Insurance has appointed Carol Laufer as head of excess casualty for Zurich Global Corporate in North America. Laufer's responsibilities include driving profitable growth for the Excess Casualty team and contributing to Zurich's cross-sell initiatives. Prior to joining Zurich, Laufer held positions at ACE, AIG and Reliance National, and most recently served as executive vice president of Excess Casualty at ACE.
