With pies and puns, it's not only math geeks who celebrate Pi Day on March 14.

For those who need a refresh on what exactly Pi means, it is a mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. It's represented by the Greek letter "π." Because Pi is an irrational number, its decimal representation never ends and never settles into a permanent repeating pattern.

This year, Pi Day is a once-in-a-century event. On March 14, 2015, at 9:26:53 a.m., Pi will be spelled out to 10 digits (3.141592653). To celebrate this, the Insurance Information Institute created an infographic that it says highlights insurance facts and figures that correspond to irrational decision-making.
