The Main Street America Group promoted Tiffany Daly to president of the Western region yesterday. The company also promoted Jeff Kusch to senior vice president and head of operations.

Global reinsurance specialist Guy Carpenter & Co. appointed Matthew Eagle as managing director and head of international analytics. Carpenter has over 20 years' experience in the industry, with his most recent work at Willis Re in 2010 as head of catastrophe analytics and director of Willis Re International.

Atlas General Insurance Services, which provides program management services across the globe, announced Tuesday the appointment of Charles Lasher as senior vice president of commercial operations. Lasher will be responsible for development, implementation and distribution of commercial programs nationwide.

Chris Rutter was named the engineering manager for the Mid-West region on Monday for Forensic Consulting Group LLC. Also, David Zimpel will now oversee all engineering activities for the Eastern region. Both men will also be charged with continuing to grow and train engineers for their regions and the National Catastrophe Team.

OneBeacon Insurance Group’s accident and professional liability business will now report to Executive Vice President Dennis Crosby, as Paul Romano exits the company. Paul Brehm, executive vice president and chief risk officer for OneBeacon, will continue to oversee company crop, tuition refund and surety segments. 

David Kaiser has been appointed to senior vice president at Arrow Financial Corp., a multi-bank holding company that is the parent of P&C insurers Loomis & LaPann Inc., McPhillips Insurance Agency and Upstate Agency LLC.

NEW PROGRAMS

The Institutes, a research institution and solutions provider for the property and casualty industry, partnered up with Wisconsin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to offer a management education program this May. The five-day intensive will provide managers and supervisors training dealing specifically with risk management in the insurance industry.

Sagamore Insurance Co., a subsidiary of Baldwin & Lyons Inc., announced Monday that it is expanding its mono-line workers’ compensation program into six new states in the Southern region. The program works on offering workers’ comp for a variety of class codes.

US Assure, an insurance service provider based out of Florida, recently won two awards: Zurich’s Spirit of Excellence award and the Target Markets Program Administration Association’s Best Practice Designation. The Zurich Award is given to a select group of program administrators who meet specific criteria for financial, underwriting and tactical plan performance.

Strategic Insurance Agency Alliance (SIAA) announced last week that 80% of their impressive milestone, hitting $5.7 billion last year, was primarily due to organic growth. SIAA also announced they had signed 410 new member agencies last year, which brings their total to 5,300 since their beginning 22 years ago. 

Indiana-based Schultheis Insurance, received the Agency of the Territory award. The award is given out by the Accident Fund Insurance Company of America, which specializes in workers comp policies for states located in the Southeast and Midwest. 

M&A

Fairfax Financial Holdings has started the process of acquiring Lloyd’s of London specialty insurer and reinsuer, Brit, for approximately $1.88 billion. With Brit in its hands, Fairfax would be able to expand its risk portfolio along with expand their market more into the U.S. and international insurance.
