Homeowners Choice Property & Casualty Insurance Co. President Scott Wallace is planning to retire after 37 years within the insurance industry. Paresh Patel, current CEO and chairman of HCI, will take over for Wallace.

ACE Group appointed David Fedarb to the newly created position of head of travel insurance for Eurasia and Africa. The two regions represent ACE's forecast that the Middle East and Africa will become dominant airline hubs in the near future.

The Navigators Group announced Tuesday that its underwriting company, Navigators Underwriting Agency Ltd., has created an international casualty division. Leading the division is Wayne Harrington, who has an 18-year background in environmental and liability solutions.

Enterprise Insurance, a branch of Enterprise Holdings, has started doing business in Ireland with the help of Wrightway Underwriting Ltd., the largest underwriting agency in the country.

California's Supreme Court will hear arguments next month in regards to a workers' comp case where a man overdosed on his prescribed medication. After the family filed for workers' comp death benefits, the courts ruled the death noncompensable.
