A fissure near Iceland's Bardarbunga volcano has been erupting for over a month now. Eric Cheng, director of aerial imaging for drone maker DJI, used a drone and a GoPro camera to capture incredible footage of the molten lava erupting, reports Wired.com.

Cheng took the trip to the eruption site with photographer Ragnar Th. Sigurdsson, who had access to the proper permits and connections with the local authorities to get close enough to send a drone over the eruption, says Wired.

Cheng's drone got so close to the lava that the camera melted. Luckily, the memory card survived and left us with this:
