The National Assn. of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) appointed North Dakota Insurance Commissioner and current NAIC president, Adam Hamm, to a two-year term as the state insurance commissioner representative on the Financial Stability Oversight Council. Mr. Hamm will represent the interests of all the nation's state insurance regulators on the council.
The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation presented its Lifetime Achievement Award to Barbara Baurer, CEO for COUNTRY Financial in El Paso, TExas, for her committment to education and support of the foundation's mission.
Appleby & Wyman announced several changes to its leadership this week. Carmen Marciano, who previously served as president and CEO since 1986, will assume the role of chairman, effective Jan. 1, 2015. Lisa Marciano will succeed her as president and CEO. Christine In addition, Christine Sciola was appointed as executive vice president and CFO, and Mary Ann Dignan was promoted to the position of senior vice president of operations.

Northeast National Brokerage launched an underwriting facility specializing in excess liability for the petroleum distribution industry, located in Bloomfield, Conn.
Mergers & Acquisitions
Sedgwick Claims Management Services Inc. acquired T&H Global LLC and its subsidaries, which specialize in claims services including property loss adjusting, field investigation, third-party claims management, and fire and forensics investigation services.
Digital Benefit Advisors acquired three California benefits firms, Clark Benefits, Drew Miller Insurance Services and Shargel & Co. Digital Benefit Advisors plans to continue its expansion in its mid-market advisory services across the country, with 24 offices.
