Chicago-based MillerCoors LLC filed a civil complaint last week against a former employee who allegedly stole $13.4 million over 11 years.

The complaint, filed in a Milwaukee County circuit court, claims David Colletti of Oconomowoc, Wis., his wife and nine others created 15 shell corporations and submitted fake invoices to the beer conglomerate–formerly Miller Brewing Co., which maintains a major brewery and administrative offices in Milwaukee.

The scheme came to light in early April, when MillerCoors began investigating the possible embezzlement by Colletti and coworker Paul Edwards, named as a codefendant in the civil lawsuit. Although MillerCooers referred the two to federal authorities for prosecution, no criminal charges have been filed.
