According to reports, a Malaysia Airlines flight en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed near the Ukrainian-Russia border on Thursday, killing all 295 on board.

Early reports also suggest that the plane, flight MH17, may have been shot down by a ground-to-air missile, which was confirmed by Anton Gerashenko, an advisor to Ukraine's interior minister.

Malaysian Prime Minister Mohd Najib Tun Razak tweeted his shock at that incident.

As is common these days, this story unfolded for most of the world on social media. Below are a few of the early tweets about the crash; we will update this page as the news develops.

This home video was shot near Torez, Ukraine and is thought to show smoke from the crash site.
