The Workers' Compensation Institute has opened registration for the 69th annual Workers' Compensation Educational Conference (WCEC), set for Aug. 17 to 24 at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Florida.

The four-day conference, presented by WCI, is the largest gathering of its kind devoted to workers' comp issues. It features program tracks and break-out sessions from hundreds of national speakers for the benefit and education of risk managers, insurance agents and brokers, adjusters, employers, judges, lawyers, state administrators, safety professionals, nurses, doctors, representatives from the PEO and temporary employment industry, Medicare specialists, mediators, social security experts and longshore specialists.

Additionally, attendees can earn continuing-education units from numerous disciplines, and more than 300 exhibitors will be on hand to present information on their products and services.

Scott Hudson, president and CEO of Gallagher Bassett Services Inc., will deliver the conference's keynote speech and will discuss the opportunities and challenges of today's workers' compensation market and how U.S. political and economic climates are shaping the industry.

Other headliners at the conference include Insurance Information Institute President Robert P. Hartwig and Natasha Moore, practice leader and senior actuary in the Actuarial and Economics Services Division at the National Council on Compensation Insurance—who together will deliver a “State of the Market” address.

During the event, National Underwriter P&C will bestow its Excellence in Workers' Compensation Risk Management Award, presented in conjunction with WCI and given to three winning organizations whose accomplishments in loss control, WC risk management and effective safety practices place them well above their peers.

The three winners selected will be featured in exclusive profiles in the August issue of NU P&C and on PropertyCasualty360.com. The award is sponsored by Helmsman Management Services, a third-party administrator offering claims management, managed care, and risk control solutions for businesses with 1,000 employees or more.
