The speed at which technology is evolving affects our lives in many positive ways. Recent advancements in aerial measuring services, storm history/hail swath mapping, and claims estimating have certainly affected the claims industry. Each year brings with it a new “hot topic” for the industry to consider and find solutions. Some more recent issues for the claims industry include mold, Chinese drywall, and unsealed tabs on composition asphalt roofs.

Today's most valued adjusters make it a priority to educate themselves, not only on the trending issues of the day, but also on the responses to these issues by industry-leading experts. By doing so, adjusters can be prepared to address the concerns of their insured, and they can defend themselves against those who may be looking to exploit the new issues with incorrect or misleading information.

Haag Education has been setting the bar in roof damage assessment training for more than two decades. In 2007, we took it a step further and developed our first Haag Certified Inspector (HCI) program for those who evaluate residential (steep-slope) roofs. In 2009, we expanded the HCI program for those who evaluate commercial (flat or low-slope) roofs.

Both current Haag Certifications (Residential & Commercial) were created by Haag's most esteemed roofing experts. Our engineers have conducted tens of thousands of field inspections and have participated in industry organizations and associations which assert official positions on various hot-topic issues. Additionally, Haag has been practicing our own independent research and testing for over 50 years. Through this independent research, Haag offers solid scientific opinions which have made a real impact on the damage assessment industry as well as serving as the basis for the damage assessment techniques taught in the HCI programs.

Almost 10,000 people have taken advantage of Haag's expert damage assessment techniques by attending the HCI courses we have offered to date. Overwhelming positive feedback from insurance, roofing contractor, and other engineering firms has fueled the demand for HCI.

Haag Education is proud to announce that in June 2014 we will be introducing another ground-breaking Certification course: HCI-Wind Damage. HCI-Wind Damage will take technical training for adjusters to a higher level, helping adjusters fine-tune their damage assessment skills for the entire building envelope following a wind event. HCI-Wind Damage will discuss the science of why wind develops, but more importantly, the course will teach students how to use that information when piecing together the effects of a wind event to bring satisfactory completion to a wind claim.

Stay ahead of the curve and on top of the latest in trends and science, all while making your skills more beneficial to your customers and your employers. Be one of the first to earn this new HCI-W designation and certification, and proudly be able to say you are Haag certified.
