An InsuranceQuotes.com study found that filing a home insurance claim could result in sizeable rate increases in some states.
Using a hypothetical situation, the study analyzed rate increases in different states. According to the study, premiums in 31 states and the District of Columbia increased by approximately 10 percent or more after filing a single claim. In other states, the premiums increased very little or not at all.
The states with the highest average premium increases as a result of filing one claim include:

Oregon (17% increase)
The bottom 5 states for average premium increase as a result of filing one claim include:

Vermont (2% increase)
-
Massachussetts (2% increase).
