The Massachusetts Division of Insurance says insurers have paid about $1.18 million in losses related to the Boston Marathon bombings in April.

According to data collected thus far from DOI, a total of 207 insurance claims have been filed and 84 have been closed with payment. Nearly as many, 76, were closed without payment. Forty-seven remain open.

Claims filed as of July 26 include those in Boston as well as surrounding communities such as of Watertown and Cambridge, DOI explains. The state's 25 top insurers and its last-resort insurer are included in this preliminary report. A final report is due next year.

Insurers have paid $753,950 on business interruption claims—the type of claim most filed. Fifty of the 132 total business-interruption claims have been closed with payment. Another 60 are closed without payment.

Continuing to dissect the claims thus far, 35 residential and 27 commercial property claims have been filed. Just five of the commercial property claims were closed with payment. A total of $253,934 has been paid by insurers on commercial property claims. About $86,800 has been paid on the 20 closed residential property claims closed with payment.

DOI says there are 170 impacted members of insured and self-insured healthcare accounts affected by the blast between April 15 and April 19. Projected healthcare costs for services to be provided through April 19, 2014 are $22.85 million.

One workers' compensation claim was filed and closed, for $257, according to the data collected by DOI.
