Berkshire Hathaway's Gen Re says A. Morris Tooker will become president of General Reinsurance Corp.
Tooker (pictured), who will be responsible for direct P&C reinsurance business worldwide, takes over for I. John Cholnoky, who will retire during the 2014 first quarter.
Tad Montross, chairman and CEO of Gen Re, says, “Over John's 30-plus-year career he helped shape our company through his commitment to underwriting discipline and building client relationships. I am also confident that Mo's leadership, client focus and global business knowledge are the right combination to continue to build the direct Property/Casualty reinsurance model.”
Cholnoky has been president of Stamford, Conn.-based Gen Re since 2008. Prior to that he was senior vice president at the company for 16 years.
Tooker is currently responsible for Gen Re's direct treaty business globally. He has held various roles with Gen Re since 1991, when he started as a property underwriter.
