According to a survey by The Creative Group, 62 percent of executives plan to increase their spending on Facebook marketing this year.

“Social media is here to stay, and organizations are starting to understand that this isn't a fad that will die out,” said Steven Robinson, The Creative Group's regional vice president.

The Creative Group's survey found that Facebook is the largest social platform for marketing investment, which can be attributed to its volume of users—1.2 billion and counting.

Companies moving to social media marketing typically spend time on social media sites and may also hire freelance writers and videographers to beef up the content.

“The hottest skill set in demand is specifically geared toward online marketing, advertising and branding,” Robinson said.
