Liberty Mutual says it has hired industry veteran Mike Martin to lead the sale of property and other specialty products to mid-sized and large commercial accounts.

Martin is now executive vice president and general manager of national insurance property for Liberty Mutual's Commercial Insurance operation.

Sold via agents and brokers, broad and flexible solutions from the unit provide property, inland marine and equipment breakdown coverage.

Martin, a 25-year insurance veteran, was most-recently senior vice president and chief property underwriter for North America at XL Insurance. He started his career at Industrial Risk Insurance.

“Mike's selection to head our property area underscores our commitment to the line and to working with agents and brokers to help their clients better manage the total cost of property risk,” notes Mark Butler, president, Commercial Insurance's National Insurance operation. “Mike blends exceptional property underwriting and engineering experience, detailed understanding of the property needs of mid-sized and large buyers across a broad range of industries, and keen knowledge of how agents and brokers add value to their clients.”
