Joan Lamm-Tennant has been chosen as 2013's Insurance Woman of the Year by the Association of Professional Insurance Women.
Lamm-Tennant is the global chief economist and risk strategist for Guy Carpenter & Company, LLC, where she advises executives and directors on emerging trends in advanced and developing economies, corporate strategy, risk and capital management and governance.

In her more than 35 years of experience in the insurance industry, Ms. Lamm-Tenant has worked as the vice president of Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc., and senior vice president of General Re Corporation. She was an adjunct professor of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Selective Insurance Group, Inc., and the International Insurance Society.
Lamm-Tennant holds a Ph.D. in Finance and Investments from the University of Texas, Austin.
The annual APIW Insurance Woman of the Year award, presented since 1976, recognizes females who have achieved notable positions in the insurance profession and made contributions to the wider insurance industry. The nominations are solicited from an independent committee of professionals appointed by the previous APIW president.
