I still have not read the Harry Potter series. Until now, this has been my private shame, as well as a source of wild amusement to my best friend, whose students are huge fans, and several dates, to whom I only divulged this oversight when pressed.

As an unabashed nerd, I can offer no logical explanation other than perhaps sheer laziness. Reading is usually reserved for bedtime, when eyes are heavy and my resolve is weak. If a book is too stimulating, then I risk staying up until the wee hours and then ambling into the office the next morning. What will my coworkers think? I mean, it's not very “rock star” to say I've surrendered to a book instead of sleep. Oh, what a wild night! I'm 200 pages deep in the “Sorcerer's Stone.”

But I digress. This time of year tends to set a poignant scene for reflection of last year's highs and lows, along with personal and professional goal-setting. Are you perhaps afflicted with a case of coulda-woulda-shoulda-itis?
