The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) named the top 10 most stolen vehicles in the country in its annual Hot Wheels list. The report examines vehicle theft data submitted by law enforcement to the National Crime Information Center and then determines the vehicle make, model and model year most reported stolen both nationally and by state.

10. 1994 Nissan Sentra
The top 10 most stolen vehicles were evenly split between foreign brands and U.S. automakers. The 1994 Nissan Sentra takes the number 10 spot and is the first foreign brand on the list.
9. 2002 Ford Explorer
The 2002 Ford Explorer is the first U.S.-made vehicle on the list, coming in at number nine overall.
According to FBI crime statistics, vehicle thefts continue to decline in the U.S., with a 3.3 percent reduction in thefts in 2011 compared to 2010.
8. 2004 Dodge Pickup (Full Size)
Older cars typically make up the majority of the list because they are easier to steal and their parts are more valuable. However, NICB President and CEO Joe Wehrle reports there is a trend toward increases in the thefts of late model vehicles, such as the 2004 Dodge Pickup, even though they are theoretically harder to steal due to key code technology.
“Today's vehicle thieves are typically professional criminals who have figured out how to get the key code for a specific vehicle, have a replacement key made and steal the vehicle within a matter of days,” says Wehrle.
7. 1999 Chevrolet Pickup (Full Size)
Simple measures can be taken to prevent vehicle theft, such as locking your car and taking your keys with you.
6. 1994 Acura Integra
A visible or audible warning device is another measure consumers can take to help ensure their vehicles aren't stolen, as well as a tracking device to signal the police or a monitoring system when the vehicle is stolen.
5. 2000 Dodge Caravan
Kill switches, fuel cut-offs and smart keys are among immobilizing devices that can also help prevent vehicle thefts.
4. 1991 Toyota Camry
The 1991 Toyota Camry moved down the list one spot from 2010, taking fourth place.
3. 2006 Ford Pickup (Full Size)
2006 Ford Pickups were the most stolen American vehicles in the country.
2. 1998 Honda Civic
This year's number two most stolen car is the same make and model as last year's—the Honda Civic—but rather than the 1995 model, more of the 1998 models were stolen in 2011 compared to 2010.
1. 1994 Honda Accord
The 1994 Honda Accord continues its streak as the number one most stolen car in the country, having taken the same spot on 2010's list. The top two positions on the list have consistently been held by Honda vehicles since 2000.
