Even though much has been accomplished in the past three years, Vestas-American's safety journey continues. Its key safety focus areas for 2012 include:
|- Dropped Items: Safety helmets, safety glasses, cell phones, tools and many other items are needed when performing service and maintenance "up tower." All of these items, if allowed to free fall, can cause property damage, injury or even death.
- Emergency Response and Emergency Rescue: Access to an injured employee while in the wind turbine and the remote nature of these locations offer unique challenges. Importance is being placed for site management to work with local emergency responders, property owners and other community stakeholders to establish contingency plans and to perform drills on a regular basis.
