Aon Risk Solutions has teamed with Australian renewable-energy developer EnviroMission Ltd. to provide insurance and risk consulting for the La Paz Solar Tower station development in Arizona.

The structure is expected to be one of the world's tallest buildings upon completion.

“Aon is delighted to support EnviroMision in its deployment of new technology as they work to deliver this historic and iconic project,” says Marshall Nadel, managing director of Aon Risk Solution's Power Practice, in a statement. “The Solar Tower will be a shining example of innovation driving sustainable solutions in the energy and renewable power marketplace.”

EnviroMission and the Southern California Public Power Authority have signed a Power Purchase Agreement allowing the company to provide wholesale solar-powered electricity from the La Paz generator to more than 100,000 SCPPA member households.

Aon has been insurance broker and risk consultant to major solar thermal power plant projects in the Western U.S., and has worked as owner and developer and outsourced risk manager.

Says EnviroMission Chief Executive Officer Roger Davey in a statement, “The Aon team has already added value to the project, not only through their engagement with risk and insurance risk analysis in key contracts, but in an expanded role to help project stakeholders understand and manage project risk.”
