Applied Systems hires two: David H. Whitley and Kristin L. Hackney joined Applied Systems as senior vice president of development, and senior vice president of services, respectively. Whitley comes to the company with 20 years of experience in software product development. Hackney has more than 17 years of experience in software services and development.
Three commercial brokers join Appalachian: Appalachian Underwriters hired three commercial brokers. Shane Holden joined the company with 20 years of insurance and risk management experience. Charlotte Adams Finver has been hired as with more than 25 years of experience in professional liability. Dale Borer comes to the agency with more than 30 years served in the industry.
Frank Crystal appoints senior managing director: Todd Yomtov has been named senior managing director of Frank Crystal's Commercial Insurance Services department in Houston. He comes to the company from NII Brokerage, where he served as principal and COO.
Colo. Casualty names president: Colorado Casualty, a Liberty Mutual Agency Corp. regional company, promoted Lucas J. Bills to president and CEO. He joined the company in 2009 as regional vice president for the Denver region. He replaces Marvin K. Braxton, who was appointed president and CEO of Indiana Insurance, another Liberty Mutual regional company.
Cavanagh named Willis CEO: John Cavanagh has been named CEO of Willis Re, the reinsurance broking arm of Willis Group. He succeeds Steve Hearn, who was appointed chairman and CEO of Willis Global. In his new role, Cavanagh joins Peter Hearn, Chairman, and Paddy Jago, president, on the Willis Re executive team.
New board member at InVEST: Jeremy Chasley has joined the national board of InVEST. Chaseley serves as the assistant vice president, producer and product development at CNA.

Advisen posts M&A activity: Advisen ranks 160 firms during 2011 as having one appearance in its monthly MAINsheet column, which notes mergers & acquisitions. Twenty firms made three or more MAINsheet appearances:Hub (33), Arthur J. New Programs
Distinguished offers Umbrella package for Museums: Distinguised Programs has launched an umbrella liability program for museums. Policy limit options range from $1 million to $50 million and the product is underwritten by an admitted A-rated carrier. It is available in all 50 states and is geared toward a wide range of non-profit museums from science, technology and art museums to botanical gardens, specialty and children's museums.
