William M. Rohde Jr. has been named senior vice president of W.R. Berkley Corp.

Douglas M. Nelson moves up to the fill Rohde previous position as president of Acadia Insurance Co., W.R. Berkley’s regional operating unit in Maine.

Rohde will report to W. Robert Berkley Jr., president and chief operating officer of W.R. Berkley. Rohde will oversee regional operating units.

Nelson joins Acadia with more than 25 years in the insurance industry.

Acadia specializes in commercial property and casualty insurance, offering insurance programs for small and midsize businesses throughout New England and New York State with local offices in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.

Robert P. Cole is staying with W.R. Berkley as senior vice president, says the company.
