Damien Magnuson promoted to new position: Executive Perils announced that Damien Magnuson has been promoted to senior vice president of the company. Magnuson will work to expand the agency's presence in the wholesale marketplace in addition to broker management and professional liability.
Don Balmes joins Willis: Willis North America announced that Don Balmes received the appointment of larger casualty team leader of Willis of Michigan. Balmes will be based in Farmington Hill, Mich., and will be responsible for the development, design and broking of larger commercial insurance programs for clients nationally and internationally.
New senior VP with Lockton: Hal Kinsey joined Lockton as the senior VP of healthcare in the agency's St. Louis office. Kinsey joins Lockton from Alliant Insurance Services and will be responsible for creating and implementing risk management programs for large healthcare organizations including hospitals and physician groups.
New Policies
New commercial product line with Main Street America: The Main Street America Group has expanded with a new commercial product line with its main feature being the main line business owners policy (Main line BOP). It's offered to independent insurance agents who represent affiliate Grain Dealers Mutual Insurance Company throughout Indiana. Main line BOP is a property and liability product for small business owners and offers broad eligibility; nearly 500 types of businesses qualify for the product in wholesale, retail, services, offices, apartments, contractors, condominium associations, garages, restaurants and light manufacturing.

New recipient receives ASCnet Chapter of the Year Award: The Applied Systems Client Network (ASCnet) 2011 Chapter of the Year Award has been given to the Florida Users Group of Applied Systems. The award honors an ASCnet local affiliate that has shown outstanding leadership and provided their members with exceptional opportunities to increase their profitability and grow the value of their agencies through their education programs and services. Chapter President Judith Dzwigal, of Lutgert in Fort Myers, and Vice President Debbie Friend of MGA Property and Casualty Insurance in Lakewood Ranch, were in attendance to accept the award.
PIA National names Company Representative of the Year: Edward J. Fernandez has been named as 2011's Company Representative of the Year by the National Assn. of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA). Fernandez is president of the Palisades Companies, part of the Plymouth Rock Assurance of New Jersey family.
2-day ruble seminar format revamped: The society of CIC board of governors of the National Alliance announced a new smaller version of the 2-day format for James K. Ruble seminars in response to many requests from CICs and CRMs. The change will maintain the same high quality standards and comprehensive curriculum as the 2.5-day format, but will provide substantial savings to participants via travel and lodging costs and time away from the office.
