ACAPULCO, Mexico (AP) — Hurricane Dora grew into a Category 2 storm in the Pacific off the Mexican coast Wednesday, with top sustained winds of 115 miles per hour.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said the hurricane's eye was centered about 220 miles south-southwest of Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico, and moving west-northwest at 16 mph.
The fourth hurricane of the eastern Pacific season was forecast to stay offshore as it moves parallel to the shoreline for several days. Dora was expected to continue gathering strength for at least another day.
