What kind of person is sentenced to 7 years for reporting a false burglary, does federal time for another fraud scheme with the help of their ex-cop brother, and gets charged for filing false tax returns? The kind of person who will do whatever it takes to get their hands on cold, hard cash.

It is also the kind of person that just doesn't quit. Bruce Greenberg, of N.Y., is no quitter when it comes to scheming. Once again, Greenberg is in the spotlight, and now it is for collecting disability benefits while holding another job.

The 58-year-old, 370-pound construction boss was collecting disability benefits after having suffered from “pulmonary insufficiency” and sarcoidosis, a condition in which tissues throughout various organs in the body become inflamed, from working at Ground Zero. He weighs about 370 pounds.

Greenburg alleged in 2004 he was no longer able to work. However, a fire that resulted in deaths at a different construction site in 2007, where he had begun another job, brought the scam to light. Investigators looked into the background of the each of the site supervisors, and when they checked out Greenberg, they put it all together.

To say Greenberg had been living his life quite comfortably would be an understatement. In 2006 and 2007, he and his wife, Angela, earned more than $325,000. The two invested in a $60,000 Corvette and spent tens of thousands of dollars renovating their home.

After their arraignment in late April, Greenberg's wife took the time to snap at a reporter. “What am I?” she asked. “A murderer?”

Angela is not, and neither is her husband. However, while the 2007 construction site deaths are investigated, some of Greenberg's former coworkers might not be off the hook.
