Brian Duperreault, president and CEO, Marsh & McLennan, USA, will be the 2011 International Insurance Society (IIS) Insurance Hall of Fame inductee, the group announced.

Mr. Duperreault will be inducted June 20, 2011 at the 47th IIS Annual Seminar in Toronto.

According to IIS, the Insurance Hall of Fame award "honors insurance leaders who have made a broad, encompassing and lasting contribution to the insurance industry and who are recognized by their peers as successful leaders, innovators or visionaries."

The IIS Honors Committee selected 2011 nominees, and the IIS membership voted on the winner by secret ballot.

IIS credited Mr. Duperreault with developing and implementing a multiyear plan to restore the Marsh & McLennan name after morale and talent issues stemming from former New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer's investigation into the industry's commission practices.

"In less than three years, Mr. Duperreault installed a new management team, resolved a host of legacy matters, and stabilized the Marsh & McLennan franchise--all against the backdrop of the most severe economic downturn in recent memory," IIS said in a statement.

Mr. Duperreault has nearly 40 years of experience in the industry. He became CEO of MMC in January 2008. Previously, he served as CEO of ACE for 10 years. He began his career as an actuary for American International Group in 1973.
