The Farmers Insurance Group of Cos. announced a partnership with Zynga, the creator of Farmville, the most popular game on Facebook, with more than 60 million monthly players.
The game will use the likeness of the Farmers Insurance Airship, a 246-ft. long zeppelin. When Farmville players position the Farmers Airship on their farms, players receive free “wither protection” for the crops on their virtual farms.
The campaign began Oct. 18 and has been “wildly successful,” said Marc Zeitlin, vice president of eBusiness for Farmers.
In addition, fans who “like” the Farmers Facebook page before Nov. 15 are entered into a sweepstakes to win a trip on the Farmers Airship. To enter, log onto www.facebook.com/farmersinsurance. This sweepstakes is offered through a social media campaign.
The Farmers Airship stretches 15 ft. longer than a 747 and 50 ft. longer than the largest blimp. It is one of only two zeppelins commercially flying in the world.
