No need to say it — we know you missed us. As you relaxed on a well deserved trip to the beach, took the kids to the amusement park/campground, or just stay-cationed in the backyard in the hammock, lingering with a cool beverage of the adult variety or not, we know the thought that ran through your mind: When is the next edition of Claims CE coming out? Wonder no more (but thanks for thinking of us!).
In this month’s first feature, Contributor Jim Kaiser brings up the age-old question: Is it better to be street smart or book smart? In his piece, Kaiser says that training initiatives for adjusters should be a combination of both. He makes the case that knowing how a claim should be handled is often completely different from how it’s handled, and training should reflect that. My favorite line in the article? “The point is not for adjusters to be exact every time, but for them to be right more often and to own the responsibility for the result.” Well put.
Next, it wouldn’t be an issue of Claims CE without another edition of our continuing-education quiz, “Know Your CE.” This month, Claims Magazine Columnist Barrett Evans tackles auto liability doctrines by presenting four entertaining scenarios and then asking you to make a decision on the proper course of action.
