Craig Lowenthal, social media strategist for Glatfelter Insurance
The only sites I currently use are LinkedIn and Plaxo. Admittedly, I've joined them due to peer pressure. While LinkedIn has become a recruitment vehicle, I feel it is professional and a good way to keep in contact with past colleagues. Additionally the professional social groups in LinkedIn are a great way to keep up-to-date with interesting issues and pipe in when you want. While I'm a member of Plaxo, I really don't utilize it. I currently don't use Facebook because I don't want photos from all my friends, family and peers to be tagged back to my Facebook page. While I don't have anything to hide (that I'm aware of) I feel photos are personal and shouldn't be put on display for the world to see. However, given the reality of the role that social media is playing in the world, I imagine that I'll soon have to warm up to Facebook.
