Winner Profile: Pilotfish XCS eiConsole

PilotFish Practices What It Preaches

Neil Schappert

PilotFish Technology uses its own integration products before putting them on the market, which helps the company ensure it delivers what it promises, according to Neil Schappert, president and CEO of the company. “Our products are conceived, developed, and enhanced in response to the specific needs of our integration specialists who are working on actual projects,” Schappert says. “They are built by people who are totally focused on the insurance industry.”

PilotFish Technology provides comprehensive software and services to help companies integrate disparate systems using ACORD XML standards. Founded in 2001, the company introduced its XCS eiConsole to the market five years ago, after first using it in-house. Winner of a RAVE Award, the XCS eiConsole is a graphical configuration tool with built-in support for ACORD standards. It helps companies integrate any system with any other system, regardless of their platform, operating system, database, or communications protocol.

Schappert says the XCS eiConsole also helps companies reduce operational costs and integrate with trading partners more easily. “The XCS eiConsole delivers 100 percent of what it promises,” he says. “The console is an integrated development environment that enables the integration of disparate systems requiring a fraction of the time and cost previously possible. It provides a step-by-step means of building, testing, deploying, and maintaining insurance standards based interfaces.”

Schappert contends the console is the only tool specifically designed to support the unique requirements of insurance and the ACORD standards. “We share a deep understanding of the insurance industry with our customers and of the ACORD standards, in particular,” he says. “The XCS eiConsole reduces the time and cost of implementing the ACORD standards, very often by more than 90 percent, so it allows companies to realize what otherwise might be elusive benefits.” Schappert credits the console's high praise from customers to its ease of use and built-in support for ACORD standards.

According to PilotFish, about 50 carriers, as well as many third party providers, currently are using software developed by the privately held company.
