W. R. Berkley Corporation announced the promotion of Berkley Medical Excess Underwriters Chief Operating Officer Collin J. Suttie to president of BerkleyMed.

Mr. Suttie succeeds BerkleyMed founder J. Michael Foley, who will continue to be involved with W. R. Berkley Corporation, the company said.

St. Louis-based BerkleyMed provides professional liability insurance to hospitals with products consisting of excess insurance and reinsurance.

Mr. Suttie, the company said, has been a member of BerkleyMed senior management since its inception.

In addition, the company said that BerkleyMed Vice President W. Matthew Fessler has been named senior vice president.

William R. Berkley, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of W. R. Berkley Corporation, said that Mr. Suttie and Mr. Fessler "share in-depth knowledge of our clients' needs and demonstrated leadership skills that position BerkleyMed for continued success."
