Chubb Corporation announced it has increased its quarterly dividend by 5.7 percent to 37 cents a share, a 2 cent increase.

The Warren, N.J.-based company said it will pay the increased amount on April 6 to shareholders of record as of March 19.

Last month, Chubb reported fourth quarter net income for 2009 of $695 million, or $2.03 a share, compared to $407 million, or $1.13 a share for the same period in 2008.

Net written premiums during the period were $2.8 billion, a 4 percent decline from 2008.

For the year, net income stood at $2.2 billion, or $6.18 a share, compared to $1.8 billion, or $4.92 a share.

Net premium written decreased 6 percent to $11.1 billion from $11.8 billion in 2008, while the combined ration stood at 86 compared to 88.7 in 2008.
