Last week, a group of P&C insurance and reinsurance company leaders convened at the14th annual Property/Casualty Joint Industry Forum to discuss market performance and where industry regulation is headed.

One common theme was how insurers forge ahead in light of the economic pinch being felt across all business segments. In the panel discussion titled "View from the Inside Looking Out," participating CEOs shared insights about how the industry is able to focus on its core business of transferring risk and paying claims amid the crisis.

A session recap posted on the Insurance Information Institute's (I.I.I.) web site emphasized insurers' record of resilience in successfully weathering past storms. Some in the panel were quoted as referring to the industry as "solid" and "secure," while pointing out ways to enhance the policyholder experience even in these difficult times.
